August 25, 1942 Wendover, UT Dear Donna, Received your letter this morning, although it arrived last night. I was in Elko at the time, so I thought I had better answer it this noon rather than wait until tonight. Might have to answer then too I’m hoping. Only two cokes so far today, same yesterday. They didn’t bother me as far as sleeping goes. You didn’t mention anything in this letter in regards to your decision, or haven’t you quite decided yet. It’s all up to you now, and I’m still serious. Just when it can happen, I can’t say, but I hope, that if you accept, that it won’t be too long. Boy, do I wish I could go to a dance at the open air. Maybe they have some good halls in Pueblo. They should have anyway. Had a swell time with Dad yesterday, good dinner of all the fried chicken that I could eat, and I have a very wonderful capacity for that. I am going to stay here and try to make it to Delta for Labor Day. If I stay here, I should have a fairly good chance for either Sunday or Labor Day, so please keep both days open for me. It will be one or the other. Have got to get to work now, so will close and write again tonight. Lots of love, Wayne PS: Your last letter was your 13th. I wonder if that could be the reason why there was no answer. I’m not superstitious either, just hoping for you. Wayne |
