Dear Donna,

Yes, I decided to stay out tonight.  I didn’t feel like trying to catch the last bus to the field.  No, I’m not feeling good.  I have had a few but it was so hot they came right out in the form of sweat. 

The wind from the air conditioner is trying to blow this paper all over.  Seen Burgis Meredith in person at the bar at the Santa Rita Hotel.  He and Ronald Reagan are down here making a picture called “Tail Gunner”.  They are using our ships for it.  It wasn’t a personal appearance, he was drinking and so were we. 

We get our last mail tomorrow, from then on it goes on to Wendover.  As far as I know, my future address will be Hq 302^nd Bomb Group, Army Air Base, Wendover, Utah.  Believe me that Utah sounds good.

I don’t have your letter here with me, so if I miss anything, please forgive me.  It is after 1am and I am not the least bit sleepy.  Just took a real hot bath and then a cold shower.  Wish the water would taste as cold as it feels.

I like to read where you say you wish I were there.  It gives me a lot of satisfaction, in more ways than one, believe me.  I hope now that when I do come home, it will be possible for these beliefs that I am treasuring will come true.

Gosh, but it’s swell out tonight.  Wish that there wasn’t the restriction to prevent us enlisted men from being on the streets after twelve.  But there is nothing that we can do about it, and we are only here for a few more days.  I am scheduled to leave on or about the first of August by aircraft.  We just had a big crash not so long ago.  In fact just a few days ago that killed a few of our men and one officer.  The rest were from the 39^th and that has made me just a little bit scared.  So, keep your fingers crossed along about then.  If you happen to see a fleet of engine, twin tailed, bombers flying over on that date, I should be one of them.  I imagine we will fly to Salt Lake and then out to Wendover.  I guess I’ll go to bed, 6:30 comes pretty early around here.
