Frances Rowser

Mrs. Frances Rowser was born 14 February 1833 and died 21 September 1902, age 69 years, 7 months and 7 days.

Mrs. Rowser was one of the old settlers of Red Oak, having resided there for 46 years. Her maiden name was Drollinger. Born in Martinsburg in Morrison’s Cove, Blair County, Pennsylvania, she was married to Mr. Samuel Smith Rowser, 4 January 1852. Three years later, in company with her husband, she came to Davenport, Iowa, and the following year to Red Oak where they have since resided. Immediately after her marriage, while in Pennsylvania, Mrs. Rowser joined the United Brethren Church to which body she remained a faithful adherent until the day of her death.

Mrs. Rowser was the mother of ten children, nine of whom survived her. Of these, two sons and one daughter are here. Mable, the youngest, is in Tama County, this state. Anna and Ella are living in Pennsylvania and Irving and Charles in Colorado and Milton in Wyoming.

Mrs. Rowser was respected by all and loved by those who knew her best. Hers was a quiet life, characterized by devotion to duty and loving self-sacrifice. She was kind and liberal hearted and had a forgiving spirit. The bible was her constant companion and her life showed forth the excellencies of its precepts. She was a loving and self sacrificing mother, finding no sacrifice too great to make for her children and thinking always of their welfare. A good wife, a good mother, a good Christian, she comes to her grave in full age as a shock of corn cometh in his season.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. E. Faucett with internment at the Red Oak Cemetery.

Mr. S. S. Rowser and children wish thank the friends and neighbors for their kind assistance in their recent bereavement.
